Our cities, our communities, ourselves
Visual research and exhibition design
In December 2011, the Atrium Gallery at the London College of Communication was transformed into a three-dimensional design/research experience. Featuring low- and high-tech interactive outcomes of the exhibitors' postgraduate work, the space was tied together with a unified aesthetic, a custom lighting scheme and video projection, and an overhead 'wordcloud' with keywords from the exhibits below. Visitors could interact with prototype augmented reality glasses and a handmade loom while leaving an on-screen trace of their brainwaves and directions to their favourite exhibit. The exhibition successfully demonstrated the research process as it relates to design, and served as an immersive laboratory for visitors to experiment, learn, and respond.
